Ethyhexylglycerin (EHG) enhances the antimicrobial efficacy of other commonly used preservatives like phenoxyethanol, pentylene glycol, caprylyl glycol, isothiazolinone or parabens and enables the formulator to use lower concentrations of the cosmetic preservative in the formulation applied. It is one of the products of choice in preservative-free formulations. Also, it acts as a very effective deodorant active, because it inhibits the growth and multiplication of odor causing bacteria.
